It’s been way too long since I made any progress on this project, I’d really like for it to not take a whole year. I made the base cabinet, added the top, but I have a few more things to get done.
- Make the side inserts to hide the ply grain.
- Fill the screw holes on the legs
- Make the doors
The screw holes will be easy, I did a few before I ran out of time on the first go-round. Making the side inserts (I don’t know what else to call them – partial panels?) are simply some 1/4″ or 1/2″ pieces of maple that are glued on to the sides. As long as I have enough on-hand, I could make these in about an hour. The doors will probably require a trip to the toy store to get material for the frames. I probably have the ply on-hand. I’ll have to order or go buy the door hardware. Not sure what the handles will be, and I assume my wife still wants doors. Not sure. Stain will be a pain, but I can knock that out in an afternoon one weekend. More stain will be required, and I’ll have to do a once-over with some sanding to get it fairly even.
My only goal this week is to make any progress toward getting this complete.
